The ovaries, the female reproductive organs that generate eggs, can develop abnormal growths called ovarian tumors. Noncancerous (benign) or cancerous ovarian tumors are both possible (malignant). Both benign and malignant ovarian tumors can present with a variety of symptoms, such as abdominal swelling, a larger waistline, pelvic or stomach pain, constipation, trouble peeing or frequent urination, feeling full faster than usual while eating, painful cramps during menstruation, etc. Ovarian cancers are brought on by the proliferation of aberrant cells. Scientists and researchers are still trying to figure out what causes these cells to develop. Ovarian tumors fall into one of two major categories: benign or malignant. An abnormal lump of tissue that develops slowly inside or on the surface of the ovary is considered as benign. Untreated, it may transform into a malignant tumor. The ovaries, the female reproductive organs that generate eggs, can develop tumors that are aberrant in growth. Cancerous or benign ovarian tumors are both possible.
